Birth & Postpartum Doulas
in Massachusetts & Rhode Island
Here’s the truth: nobody has this parenting thing all figured out. Not first-time parents, not fourth-time parents, and definitely not the baby. Our small team of hand-selected, vetted doulas is here with you from “A baby is on the way!” to “Wait, now what?” to “I’ve got this.”
Know exactly what you want? Great. Not sure where to start? Also great. (Honestly, that’s most people.) Share your due date or your baby’s age, and we’ll figure out the rest together.

Hi, I’m Marsha
In 2018, I planned to spend one summer working overnights as a night nanny, then head back to my childcare administration job that fall. Spoiler: I never went back.
Today, I’m the first person you’ll talk to. I’ll get to know your family and help you figure out what support makes sense (even if you’re not sure yet), and then I get to work my magic: matching you with one of the doulas I’ve hand-selected and vetted, someone I’d trust with my own grandbaby. They truly are the secret sauce of Blissful Sleep Doulas.
And yes, I’m still in the trenches, supporting families myself. (That mug isn’t just for photos.)

What Massachusetts Parents Are Saying
Don’t just take our word for it. (We’re a little biased.)
“Marsha was and still is my baby lifeline. As new parents we had no idea what to expect. Marsha swooped in the first night and made us feel calm, prepared and secure. I cannot say enough about how much I would recommend Marsha. Once I am pregnant again she is top of the list to find out so that I can secure her care again!”
Amanda M., Needham
(formerly South Boston)
“I cannot recommend Blissful Sleep enough! We have used them twice now, and their timeliness and reliability really stood out compared to other services we’ve tried. If our baby didn’t need anything in the morning they would brew coffee and read to the older kiddos. They go above and beyond to support the whole family.”
Leah N., Cambridge
“Marsha provided overnight care for my preemie twins for 6 months a few nights a week so we could get some much needed rest. Marsha’s experience and confidence let us know our babies were in great hands and we slept without worry. The boys were very fond of her, and were smiling and happy each morning!”
Gina S., Watertown

Questions Parents Ask Us
-
A postpartum doula supports your whole family after baby arrives. That can mean soothing and feeding support for your newborn, helping you learn their cues, building healthy sleep habits from the start, and making sure you're eating, drinking and resting too. It's practical and emotional support, not medical care.
-
Not quite. Despite the name, most "night nurses" aren't nurses at all. An overnight doula supports your baby and you, so you can actually sleep while someone experienced handles the night.

Yes, and you can mix and match. Blissful Sleep Doulas matches families in Massachusetts and Rhode Island with postpartum doulas for daytime, late night and overnight support. Lots of families start with overnights so everyone can sleep, then switch to daytime visits once things settle. (Or the other way around. There's no wrong order.) Daytime availability depends on how close you are to your doula, so tell us your town and we'll check.
-
You start by talking with Marsha, who gets to know your family and your schedule. She matches you with a Blissful Doula, and you speak with them before booking. If it's not the right fit, she'll find someone who is. Most families have one primary doula, sometimes two, with backup from another Blissful Doula if plans change.
-
Earlier gives you more choice, so many families reach out during pregnancy. But babies don't always wait for a plan. Already home with a newborn? Reach out anyway and we'll see what we can do.
-
Rates start at $58 an hour. Your exact rate depends on how far your matched doula travels, and we'll go over it together when we connect. Carrot, Maven and Progyny are welcome, so check your benefits too.
