Hi, I’m Marsha!

In the summer of 2018, a fellow doula needed an extra set of hands, and I said yes. I’d already spent more than 25 years with babies and families, first as an infant teacher then 15+ years as a childcare center director, and I fully planned to head back to childcare administration that fall. Then I spent my first night with the family, and I never went back.

That one summer grew into Blissful Sleep Doulas. Today I match families across Massachusetts and Rhode Island with a small, hand-selected and vetted team of experienced, independent birth and postpartum doulas, each one someone I’d trust with my own grandbaby.

I also love teaching. I founded the Blissful Sleep Parent Academy, where I write our Thriving Guides, simple, practical guides for the parts of new parenthood nobody really prepares you for, like recovering from a C-section. They’re the kind of thing I wish every family had on the counter during those first wobbly weeks.

My sweet spots? Teaching new and returning families, supporting twins and their very busy parents, and creating new education materials. There’s nothing I love more than watching a parent go from “I have no idea what I’m doing” to “I’ve got this.” Whether it’s your first baby or your third, I’m here to help you feel confident, prepared, and a little less alone.

What Support With Me Looks Like

It usually starts with a free, no-pressure consult. We’ll talk about your due date or your baby’s age, what’s on your mind, and what kind of support would make the biggest difference for your family. Then I’ll match you with a Blissful Doula and stay in your corner the whole way, from prenatal through the fourth trimester. If sleep hits a bump once your baby is 5 months or older, we’ll work together one on one with personalized infant sleep consulting. Classes on newborn care and postpartum planning are coming soon. I still take a small number of overnights, mostly families close to my homebase in Milford, MA. Families have called me the baby whisperer, and honestly, I’ll take it.

A Little About Me

I’m a mom of three grown kiddos and Nanie (aka grandma) to the most perfect little human ever, my grandson Parker. So I’ve lived the newborn fog from both sides. My family is spread across the country, from Massachusetts to Texas to California, and I’m a proud dog mom to 3 crazy pups. When things get quiet (if they ever do!), you’ll usually find me with a crochet hook in my hand. Over the years, I’ve crocheted more than a hundred little blankets for the babies I’ve supported, a tradition that started with my grandmother-in-law, who made little blankets for my daughter to carry around. Other than being with my kiddos and Parker, my happy place is in the sun, on the Cape & Islands.
